On 29th and 30th June, the LIV and MIV girls performed this year’s Junior musical, A Night At The Musicals.

Needless to say, all the hard work paid off, with a full house for Friday’s performance, not to mention the very appreciative school audience on Thursday. Multiple opportunities were given in each of the productions for the girls to sink their teeth into an interesting role. A stand-out performance, it has to be said, was given by Angelina who was very well cast by Miss Bradfield in the role of Miss Hannigan. She is definitely one to watch! It was lovely to see some of the shyer girls taking to the stage to perform, as well as seeing accomplished performances from the likes of Elan as Matilda, Jemima as Mrs Wormwood and Anna as Mr Wormwood.

This is the first time that the school has attempted to stage three musical extracts as the Junior play, each of them a story within themselves. LIV doubled up to tell us two halves of Seussical, a musical based on the books of Dr Seuss’s Horton Hears A Who. MIV were given two musicals to tackle, extracts of Annie and Matilda. The joy of staging a musical is that the girls are given the chance to try many new skills and tie them all together on stage. Dancing, singing and acting all at once - quite the challenge! Mrs Fryar and Miss Dickinson did a fantastic job of leading the musical numbers.

With staging three different pieces, comes the task of creating an engaging and changeable set. Thanks must go to Alice (LVI) who constructed detailed and exciting animations to be projected on stage whilst the performances took place, allowing us to quickly run the productions one after the other. The fabulous props were designed and made by Mrs Pallot with help from the girls at lunchtimes.

Congratulations to everyone involved in the production!
