'Hairspray' a hit with the girls

On 24th February, all the girls studying Drama went to support Hairspray at the Theatre Royal Bath. This exuberant, raucous and breathless production was a fabulous hit; the Upper Circle turned to a 1960s dance floor with girls dancing in the seating, immersed in a production where the period pastels of the costumes and sets matched the relentless up-beat tone of the lyrics and tunes.

Girls enjoy cultural trip to Florence

The theme of the LVI Form's History of Art study trip to Florence was introduced from the outset when, at Heathrow, the girls were all given Sarah Dunant’s historically accurate novel The Birth of Venus to prepare them for four days of total immersion in the culture of the Early Renaissance.

During Enrichment Week, the MIV Form spent an energetic morning with Samba expert Mary Edwards learning the rhythms and moves of this Brazilian artform.

Alpine Adventure in Italy

MIV Form hit the dance floor during Enrichment Week

Girls investigate Fairtrade

In our UIV Form Geography lessons we have been studying development and the impact of prices for banana producers (in Ecuador) as well as cocoa bean producers. We found out that very few producers get a fair price for their products. This how we got to Fairtrade.

Girls rise to the Mathematical Challenge

Sixty six girls from the UIV, LV and UV Forms took part in the UK Intermediate Maths Challenge on Thursday 5th February. This is an annual competition run by Leeds University to encourage students to tackle problems that they would not usually experience as part of the normal curriculum.
