First prize in Latin Play Competition!

On Tuesday 23rd June, 55 girls from the UIV travelled to Redlands High School for the annual Latin Play Competition.  The girls were excited and keen to win, especially as they knew there was the promise of pizza if they succeeded!

True to St Mary's form, the girls very much rose to the occasion.  We entered two plays - Mucius Scaevola and Perseus.  The first group did their best to recapture this moment of individual Roman valour, and the second group produced an outstanding production of the Perseus Myth.  The costumes, acting, script and sense of humour were obvious for all to see and they communicated the story brilliantly to the audience.  Everyone enjoyed this first-class performance!

We came away the winners of the competition and my thanks must go to all the girls and the staff in the Classics Department for their indefatigable efforts for making this day such a success.
