On Sunday 20th March, for the third consecutive year the LIV and MIV girls, along with Dr Kirk and other staff members, participated in the World Wide Walk - helping to raise money for Plan International's 'Because I am a Girl' campaign.
Plan are the experts on girls’ rights and Because I am a Girl is their flagship campaign. They have already helped 58 million girls and by 2016, they aim to support hundreds of millions more so that they will be free from violence and can get the education, skills and support they need to become powerful forces for change in their communities. For further information about the campaign please click here.
Although the walk (along the National Cycle Path from Chippenham to Calne) was scheduled to take the girls two and a half hours they completed it in an hour and a half, at a slightly less leisurely pace than perhaps the staff would have liked! Five school dogs (and their owners!) accompanied them on the walk, the Headmistress' dog Lily, Frosty (Mrs Taylor-Smith's), Beth and Daisy (Mrs Hayes') and Alfie (Mrs P's). Details of how to donate to the cause can be found on our Just Giving page.
