History of Art Trip FlorenceAs we left Calne for Heathrow at the unearthly hour of 3.30am on the Friday of Half Term (12th February) little did we know that the weather would be worse in Italy! Florence greeted us with the first few rain drops which would rapidly develop in to the torrents that would barely leave us for the entire duration of our stay. Undeterred, we set about the business of exploring what can surely be described as the first Renaissance city and finally, after weeks of study, were able to locate the paintings and sculptures that had been viewed in two-dimensional form in their correct social and historical context.
