NASA Science Lecture enthralls girls

NASAOn Friday 22nd January the LIV, MIV and LV girls watched a live lecture being broadcast from St Catherine’s School. The presenter was NASA Chief Scientist, Dr Ellen Stofan. Her specialism is planetary Geology and she gave a presentation entitled NASA Science: Looking Outward, Inward and Homeward.

LV girls visit GCSE Science Live

Science LiveOn 20th January, the whole of the LV Form and members of the Science Department enjoyed a very stimulating and interesting day in the presence of a number of internationally famous and eminent scientists. GCSE Science Live was an opportunity for the girls to listen to speakers who have risen to the top in their chosen fields of Biology, Physics or Chemistry.

Enlightening Medical Research Ethics Lecture

Dr Lees-Millais LectureOn Tuesday 19th January, Dr Jane Lees-Millais, a former parent and local GP, presented a talk arranged and hosted by the Religious Studies Department on Medical Research ethics. Her interactive lecture focused on human trials and her work on London's Royal Free Hospital Medical Research Ethics Committee.

Girls get to grips with DofE First Aid Training

DofE First Aid TrainingOn a chilly Monday morning (18th January) all of the UIV and a few girls from LV and LVI gathered in the theatre for six hours of outdoor First Aid Training to help them prepare for their Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh's Award expeditions.

EES Scheme ResidentialOn 8th December, four LVI girls, accompanied by the Head of Physics. went to Plymouth University for the residential aspect of the Engineering Education Scheme (EES) programme.

Daisy raises funds through 100-mile walk

Daisy Crone WalkAt the beginning of January, LVI Form pupil, Daisy, took on the challenge of walking 100 miles - the length of Eleuthera (an island in the Bahamas) - in order to raise funds for a community project for local children.

Fun at the Fifth-Term Reunion

2014 Leavers ReunionOn Thursday, 7th January we held the first of our annual CGA events, welcoming back the leavers of 2014 to celebrate their fifth-term reunion at Juju’s in Chelsea. Over thirty girls attended, some of whom had not seen each other since the Lily Ball in July 2014.
