BebrasGirls in the Fourth Form and those who take Computer Science in the Fifth Form have been involved in a Computer Science competition organised by Oxford University – Bebras. The international challenge introduces computational thinking to pupils and promotes Computer Science in over 40 countries.

An insight into Architecture and Design

The aim of this new series of talks is to give girls in the Fifth and Sixth Form an insight into a wide range of careers which they previously might not have considered, or indeed are already pursuing.

Sleep SeminarThe Wellbeing Self Reviews that our pupils all complete annually indicated that many of them were unable to sleep well or that they still felt tired in the mornings after a night’s sleep. To address this, we welcomed Nick Littlehales, an International elite sports sleep coach, into school last week to deliver seminars to all our Fifth and Sixth form pupils, as well as to staff and sports coaches.

Hogwarts comes to life at the Moberly Company Supper!

Moberly supperWe all had a fantastic night of fun at the 'Harry Potter' themed Moberly Company Supper! The costumes this year were amazing and the girls had put a lot of effort and thought into what they were wearing; we had Dementors, Mad-Eye Moody, Snitches and Hagrid, to name but a few. The ambience was set with the Harry Potter sound track playing in the background.

Fascinating Lecture on Cybersecurity

Dr MowbrayOn Tuesday 14th November, Dr Miranda Mowbray, an expert in cybersecurity, gave a highly fascinating lecture to the girls and visiting members of the public about the escalating amount of malware being released in the world and how it is very difficult to combat it by traditional means.

Dr Wickson recognised for her service as an examiner

Penny Congratulations to Dr Penny Wickson, Head of History of Art, who has been recognised by the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) for her contribution to examining, having been an examiner for six consecutive years for the AQA History of Art papers at AS and A2 Level.

'Outstanding' RS Conference in Oxford

RS Oxford Conference Outstanding was the title of the A Level Religious Studies' event on 10th November, which was organised by Candle Conferences for UVI students. All nine of our UVI RS students and the teachers who accompanied them to Oxford Town Hall found that it was indeed ‘Outstanding’.
