On a sunny Saturday evening, following Founders’ Day, the girls, families and friends of our UVI Leavers gathered for the annual Leavers' ball. The Lily Ball is a highlight of the Summer Term and the final event for our Leavers and is kindly sponsored by The Calne Girls Association, NVB Architects and Somer 2000.
This year’s ball was bigger than ever and guests enjoyed prosecco and canapés in the early evening sunshine before sitting down to dinner. With a theme of the ‘Wonders of the Orient’ the menu was deliciously fresh and colourful and had been chosen by the girls.
Our Founders’ Day marquee had been transformed into a beautiful Oriental garden with orchids, lilies, blossom and grasses and the tent was lined with decorative bird cages and magical lanterns.
More than 250 guests – girls, parents, friends and staff enjoyed a fantastic night of live music and dancing – as well as the ubiquitous photo booth with the opportunity to raid the dressing up box for fabulous glasses, wigs and feather boas.
Scaramanga Photography took many and varied photos of girls with their friends, family groups and of the party and all the dancing (available for purchase) – and the Calne Girls Association also sponsored a more formal photo of the girls which will be given to each Leaver as a reminder of their time at Calne!
It was a truly fabulous and exciting send off for the girls as they head off into the future – as well as a celebration of the fun and flair of Calne!
