It was wonderful to welcome so many relatives, friends, alumnae and current St Mary’s families to our Spring Garden Party on Sunday 17 May. Despite forecasts of rain – and even the possibility of storms in the lead-up to the event – the weather remained kind, allowing guests to enjoy a delightful afternoon together.
Pupils were pleased to spend time with their grandparents, family members, and special guests, who firstly enjoyed a wonderful programme of musical performances by several of the girls and a warm welcome from Head Anne Wakefield, before setting off on their school tours.
Personal tours of the school from the girls were a real treat for all, with pupils sharing stories of life at St Mary’s while showing their classrooms, dormitories, favourite places around the campus, as well as the sports centre, library and school shop.
Afternoon tea was served in the Dining Room, with guests enjoying a delicious selection of sandwiches, scones, and cakes while catching up with friends old and new, with one guest commenting ‘this is better than afternoon tea at Blenheim Palace!’
The occasion was a lovely celebration of the St Mary’s community, and many guests commented on how much they had enjoyed the afternoon.
We are also extremely grateful to the Calne Girls’ Association and the Parents’ Guild of St Mary’s for their generous sponsorship, which helped make the event possible.
