On Friday 8 May, four girls from LV were confirmed at the Roman Catholic service at Downside Abbey. Oma O, Hillary I, Alex T and Isla S completed the preparation with the Church of England candidates back in the Spring Term but had a little wait for their special day.
It was certainly worth the wait with a beautiful service in the awe-inspiring setting of the Abbey. Downside School made us very welcome and the service was rich in terms of both music and liturgy. Bishop Bosco MacDonald, the Bishop of Clifton, presided at the Confirmation Mass and preached an engaging and encouraging homily.
After the service there was a surfeit of cake with the girls, friends and families enjoying both the cakes that St Mary’s had provided and sharing in the large cake baked by our hosts.
