Last Friday night, the Delscey Burns Theatre was transformed into a dazzling 1920s jazz club, showcasing the incredible vocal and instrumental talent of our pupils and staff, in aid of our bursary programme. From the St Mary’s All-Stars Big Band to Chamber Choir, Junior Consort and the Middle Four choir, alongside a fantastic mix of solo, duet and group performances, every moment was full of sparkle and good cheer.
With Secret Singers (bravo Mrs Lord and Mr Morris), a Grand Prize Draw and Mr Smyth’s witty compering, the evening was full of surprises, warmth and a truly fantastic atmosphere.
‘It was a brilliant evening, reflecting our school ethos and values of kindness, generosity and fun. A huge thank you to all our performers, everyone who worked on the event, and all those who came to support,’ said Director of Music, Ms Marie-Claire Bray-Arthur.
Development Manager, Dr Gemma Wise, added, ‘It was inspiring to see our community come together while raising an impressive £6,000 in support of bursaries at Calne. Every pound will help support our ambition of enabling pupils from diverse backgrounds to benefit from a Calne education and all it offers.’
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated, and to the St Mary’s team for creating such a memorable event.
