A pop-up exhibition by acclaimed British portrait artist Alastair Barford, our Artist-in-Residence this year, is now on show in the Lumi Library. Known for his sensitive observational style and his ability to capture not just likeness but lived experience, Barford brings a selection of recent works that transform the library’s light filled space into a contemplative gallery.
The exhibition, A Moment of Stillness, offers a rare and close-up encounter with Barford’s practice. His paintings rooted in careful study and human connection and explore themes of identity, memory and the subtle gestures that reveal character.
What makes this pop-up especially compelling is its accessibility. Without the formality of a traditional gallery setting, students, staff, and community members find themselves drifting naturally into the artworks.
Barford’s temporary residency at the Lumi Library reflects the school’s ongoing commitment to supporting contemporary artists and making art an everyday encounter.
Parents who wish to enjoy the exhibition are encouraged to contact the school office to arrange a viewing.
