Creative Writing Competition

  • Post category:English

Over the Easter holidays, we would love girls to reflect and write prose fiction or a poem on the chosen theme for the Girls’ Schools Association’s 2021 creative writing competition:

What have we learnt from the pandemic that will influence our lives tomorrow?

The competition was inspired by the student poetry GSA schools have been posting on Twitter, together with the uplifting performance of young poet Amanda Gorman who read at Joe Biden’s inauguration as President of the United States. Writers of prose and poetry alike are welcome to take part.

Girls may interpret the theme any way they wish. Prose entries can be short/flash fiction, life writing or essays, up to approximately 350 words. Poetry entries can be in any form, including free verse, up to a maximum of 20 lines. Both prose and poetry can be submitted if desired.

Girls have the Easter Holidays to write their piece(s) and enter. English teachers will be briefing classes on how to do so but full details here: https://gsa.uk.com/discover-events/gsa-young-peoples-creative-writing-competition-2021/

Good luck, everyone!
