Welcome to this term’s first ‘Track of the Week’! I really struggled to choose just the one song this time round as I found so many cool new things over the summer. That being said, I’ve gone for an old favourite of mine: “Music Takes Me Up” by Mr. Scruff, featuring Alice Russell. Mr. Scruff, a Manchester-based DJ and producer, is known for his eclectic mix of electronic, jazz, and funk beats. Alice Russell brings her powerhouse voice to the track, adding a rich, soulful layer to Scruff’s smooth production. “Music Takes Me Up” is a feel-good blend of downtempo, jazz, and house, and will hopefully make you as cheery as it does me.
