Success after the Half Term

  • Post category:General / Sport

This week saw some tough and competitive matches played in very wet, muddy and in some cases dark conditions. The hockey teams remained unbeaten and the junior netball teams scored 102 goals against St Johns on Wednesday afternoon despite the fading light. In our annual trip to Radley the 1st Sixth form team reaped revenge with Ollie scoring the winner in the final minute to beat the boys 5-4.

On Saturday the St Mary’s county players played well and were great ambassadors for the school. Wilts and Dorset did not win the respective tournaments but congratulations to Emily, Ollie, Olivia, Rebecca and Annabel who have been selected to go forward for South West Trials. Down in Sherborne the Cross country teams had to literally dig deep, competing in the regional round of the Schools Cup in very muddy and challenging conditions. Congratulations to Ariana, Caroline and Lucy who finished an impressive 15th, 17th and 19th place respectively. Without the cross country runners and county players, taking on the might of Downe House was always going to be challenging and we did suffer some bad defeats. However the 2nds were on great form to win 16-8 and the U13Bs held Downe to an exciting 6 all draw.

Well done to all who participated.
