The inauguration of Joe Biden included inspired musical choices, ranging from Lady Ga Ga complete with gold microphone, to Garth Brooks, the award-winning country singer.
But it was the rhythm of the spoken voice that won me over as the astounding Amanda Gorman took to the stage with her poem, The Hill we Climb (see below).
This is a powerful piece of dramatic art, full of cadences and powerful rhythmic beats, whilst also reflecting heartfelt emotion, passion and even theatre. Even the spoken word has music at its expressive core.
As the first ever National Youth Poet Laureate, I am sure Amanda Gorman is a voice of the future.
