On Wednesday, the Maths Department welcomed Year 6 pupils from St Margaret’s to try their hand at becoming aerospace engineers. Guided by St Mary’s LIV (Year 7) students, the St Margaret’s pupils learned how to build sleek, efficient and aerodynamic paper aeroplanes before taking advantage of the sunny weather to test their designs on St P’s field.

Working in teams, the students collected data from their flight tests and calculated their average scores. The Maths Department would like to thank the LIV pupils, who acted as Lead Engineers, helping the Year 6 students refine and improve their aeroplane designs.

Baer and Emily from St Margaret’s said, ‘I enjoyed the pure excitement of being involved in engineering’ and ‘I enjoyed working with St Mary’s friends’ respectively, while Harry loved ‘the excitement of throwing the aeroplanes in the air’.
