For our Charity Week Sixth Form Lecture, we welcomed Jon from Doorway, a Chippenham-based charity, who spoke to us about what the charity aims to do and the amazing impact it has on so many people’s lives. He offered us insight into what homelessness actually is and why it is such a pressing issue at the moment, as well as describing the services offered by Doorway to their guests.

His talk helped us to better understand the complexity of homelessness beyond the generic stereotypes, highlighting the personal, social and economic challenges that can lead someone to be left without long term stable shelter.

We were so lucky to have him be able to take the time to speak with us, as it gives us a deeper appreciation of the work Doorway do, as well as allowing us to see where all our fundraising is making a difference.

All in all, his talk eye opening, engaging and stimulated reflection in all of us, and we look forward to continuing our support for Doorway and the vital work they do.
