GCSE UIV pupils explore ‘sight-size drawing’ with artist-in-residence, Alastair Barford
Our prospective GCSE UIV pupils were treated to an inspiring workshop led by our artist-in-residence, Alastair Barford. During the session, students were introduced to drawing plaster of Paris models using the sight-size method, a traditional technique that emphasises careful observation and accurate proportion.
Guided by Alastair’s expert demonstrations, the students embraced the challenge with enthusiasm. Working in charcoal, they produced exceptional pieces that showcased both their growing technical skill and their ability to look closely and draw with confidence.
This hands-on experience not only strengthened their observational drawing abilities but also gave them a valuable insight into the discipline and focus required at GCSE level.
Well done to all the pupils for their dedication and impressive outcomes. It was an enriching and memorable artistic experience for everyone involved.
