Congratulations to Georgia A (LV) who, at the recent National Schools Lacrosse Championships, was presented with the inaugural Xanthe Barton Memorial Award, recognising Georgia’s outstanding character both on and off the field. Her determination, encouragement of others, and positivity throughout the tournament made her a truly deserving recipient.
The award was created in memory of Xanthe Barton, a lacrosse player at Marlborough College. Xanthe tragically passed away in November 2025 following a cardiac arrest caused by a pulmonary embolism after a flight from London to New York. In her memory, her family established this award to recognise a player who embodies the qualities she represented so strongly: sportsmanship, teamwork, and resilience.
It was especially poignant to learn during the presentation that Xanthe herself was a goalkeeper – the same position played by Georgia – making the moment even more meaningful.
