The LVI Gold DofE groups went to the Black Mountains over Half Term to complete their Gold Practice Expedition.

They started off just outside Abergavenny and walked around the Sugar Loaf to Llangenny as a gentle introduction to wild-country walking for their first day. The second day was a little more of a challenge in distance and navigation, but all of the groups managed to make it to their second campsite at Cwmdu.

The third day was a mountain day up on the top of Llangorse Mountain and finishing down by the lake - there were a few navigational problems for one team but they were quickly put right with a reminder on how to use their compass! All of the teams improved with their campcraft throughout the expedition, however, this will still need to be a focus for all the teams on their final expedition!

On the last day, all of the teams were up early and eager to get going, completing the distance between the campsite and finish in a very quick time.
