This year’s UIV (Year 9) production, performed in our Delscey Burns Theatre this year, didn’t fail to provide a very professional and entertaining theatrical experience, much enjoyed by the audience of parents who attended on Monday night.
Led by the expert direction of Mrs Carolyn Rigby, and supported by the indefatigable and creative Miss Robyn Caldwell, the 30-plus-strong troupe gave a novel and visually engaging rendition of Shakespeare’s classic early farce The Comedy of Errors. In a brilliant and engaged ensemble, the two sets of twins (Amelia and Martha, Poppy and Matilda) held the focus of the complex engineering of the play with bravura performances, expertly supported by the likes of Elo as a furious wife, Cicely as her sister, & Ada as a wronged goldsmith. The performances were given extra heft by Mrs Rigby’s ingenious Mediterranean design – a box set of all terracotta and hatches, with a marked use of delicious looking ice creams created by Miss Caldwell and the superb crew! A fine, fun evening all round, and testament to the incredibly hard work cast and creatives have put in since January. Bravo!
