In July, 30 students and three PE staff took part in a 10-day Lacrosse trip to the USA to experience the 2022 Women’s World Lacrosse Championships in Washington and take part in a number of friendly lacrosse matches.
Saturday 25th June saw the return of our annual Sports Day at Beversbrook. The weather was looking a little cloudy, however it held off, and the sun made a small appearance. This, with the Company tents surrounding the finish line, created a great atmosphere for all the spectators and competitors.
As part of the preparation for the upcoming Lacrosse Tour to the USA, the team had a friendly fixture against Cheltenham Lacrosse Club.
We had a busy time leading up to the Belsay International in Northumberland for the British Pony and Junior Championships.
On 7th June, the Aquathlon was back after a few years' absence, and with just short of 50 girls taking part, it was a busy evening.
The Wiltshire Schools' County Athletics Championships took place on 11th June on a bright and gusty day at the County Ground, Swindon. There were 16 girls from St Mary’s representing the North Wiltshire Area across 22 events, achieving their area representation honours.
On Monday 9th May, the Sports Scholars were invited to a special session as part of their Ready To Compete programme.
The Sixth Form have been enjoying an introduction to kayaking in the pool.
There have been some good results over the last few weeks for the St Mary’s Calne Equestrians.
On 4th May, Downe House hosted another excellently organised and competitive summer competition. St Mary’s attended with our U13, U15 and U18 Teams to compete against eight other schools.
On Wednesday 27th April, the UV, Sixth Form and PE Department of St Mary’s joined together for the first annual Sports Presentation Dinner in three years, which celebrated the fantastic sporting achievements of the girls over the last year.
There was a lot of excitement in the build up to the Staff v Leavers lacrosse game on 27th April, with some UVI comparing it to the 100m final in the Olympics or the World Cup Football final!
St Mary’s Calne Seniors played their first tennis fixture of the year with an away match against Kingswood School, Bath, on Saturday afternoon.
On 26th April, St Mary’s Calne Seniors had their first mixed doubles tennis matches of the season with Radley Seniors.
Last Friday, 22nd April, the LIV and MIV travelled to the Cotswold Water Park to take part in their Challenge & Adventure (CAA) programme.
Congratulations to Evie (LV) who has been training with the Wiltshire Development Squad and has now been selected to play for Wiltshire County Netball.
We are very pleased to share good news from the Lacrosse Home Internationals (8th-11th April), held at Edinburgh University and won by England.
Our equestrians and their horses had a very successful time over the Easter holidays.
Our Junior Teams fought hard at the Nationals and there were some great skills and stickwork on display!
The Lacrosse Nationals made a return after a two-year absence, due to Covid. Our teams were excited to get back on the pitch and play against lots of different schools.
