presence of absenceweb tnThe school's fourth London Exhibition of Art, 'Presence of Absence' is currently in full swing at Mall Galleries, London. Open until 7th November, 'Presence of Absence' celebrates the Art of St Mary's Calne and reflects how the cycle of school life means that the girls inevitably move on after their time with us, but still have a presence in school through the work they have done.

One of the alumnae whose artwork is displayed is Isabella Depla (2018 Leaver) and it has been wonderful to work with her and see her installation ‘Unseen Depths’ in place at the exhibition. Isabella shares her thoughts about the exhibition below:

'Having recently graduated, this is an amazing opportunity to get my work out there into the art world as well as getting some curation experience. This is my third time exhibiting with the school and I’m so fortunate to have this experience especially as, due to the pandemic, I have not been able to exhibit my work in public for some time. I’m so grateful for St Mary’s continued support by offering this to alumnae as well as current students, as leaving university can feel a bit daunting as you’re planning the next step. This exhibition gives us a taste of what being a practising artist might be like whilst also promoting a variety of different work from different ages, mediums.'

The Art school are proud to promote and support our emerging young Artists in their next steps, including their MA applications for esteemed institutions.
