On Monday 15th May, the Junior Drama Club performed Cinderella, which they had devised and written themselves with the help of Drama Club leaders, Mrs DeBonnaire and Mrs Chater.

The show was their own take on the Brothers Grimm classic; complete with ugly sisters, fairy godmothers and some very helpful dancing birds. The scenes that the girls had devised added a touch of humour to this classic fairy tale; the wicked stepsister returning with a bloodied apron after sawing off the feet of her daughters and the handsome prince being wooed by Cinderella’s knowledge of mathematics.

May was excellent as the vain and wicked stepmother. Elan was captivating as the long suffering Cinderella and Khalilah bought energy and flair as the prince. The performance was enjoyed by audiences from School House and St Prisca’s, along with a number of staff who came along to support them. The girls had the audience in stitches during what was a very entertaining and exuberant performance. It was lovely to see the girls performing something that they had created themselves. The girls will now be working hard to prepare for their roles in this summer’s Junior Musical.
