The Company Drama Competition took place over the weekend of 4th and 5th November, with the final performances shown on Sunday evening in the theatre. The theme this year was 'Pantomime'.

The girls worked in groups of 10 - 20 actors to stage their own version of their allocated panto. The plays had to display as many conventions of Pantomime as possible. The girls worked really hard over the weekend rehearsing, scriptwriting and putting together props, costumes and sound effects. The final result was fantastic and we were all very impressed with the standard they had achieved in such a short amount of time. It was great to see girls from different year groups performing and working together on stage. The girls performed to a full theatre of staff and students who were thoroughly entertained by what they saw.

The judging panel, which included Miss Darling, Miss Bradfield, Headmistress Dr Kirk and Deputy Head Mrs Harrison judged as follows:

Best Pantomime: Poore - who won for the second year in a row with their hilarious and farcical version of Aladdin.

Best actress: Grace (UVI) with her role of Jafar the evil villain in Aladdin which had the audience in stitches.

Best supporting actress: Fenella (LV) with her pantomime dame, the giant's wife, in Moberly's production of Jack and the Beanstalk.

Best contribution: Matilda (UVI), director of Moberly's performance. She worked hard coming up with some fantastic staging ideas and witty one-liners for Jack and the Beanstalk.

Well done to all who took part.

Miss Darling, Director of Drama
