On Tuesday 5th March we welcomed a group of Year 5 and 6 girls to take part in The Greatest Showman Musical Theatre Workshop, and it certainly was a full day of ‘the greatest show’!
The workshop focused on three songs from the extremely successful film, The Greatest Showman, which has captured the hearts of audiences around the world – including this very enthusiastic group of girls who had all seen the film multiple times!
Throughout the day, the girls worked on a range of vocal techniques with Bethan Dudley Fryar, St Mary’s Director of Vocal Studies, and choreography with Dance specialists, Bethany Dickinson and Beth Hughes.
They also visited the Delscey Burns Theatre, the school’s working theatre, and met with current St Mary’s girls over a delicious lunch in the Dining Hall, where they all chatted excitedly together about their passion for music, drama and dance.
To close the day, the girls presented a grand finale performance of Tightrope, Never Enough and A Million Dreams to a delighted audience of parents and family members, before enjoying an afternoon tea (with very impressive cupcakes!) with St Mary’s staff.
‘The girls worked very hard throughout the day and I am extremely proud of their efforts. They are well on their way to becoming ‘a triple threat’, that is, performers who can sing, act and dance!’ said Mrs Dudley Fryar.
Congratulations girls, you certainly put on ‘the greatest show'!
