The 11th/12th May was a fantastic weekend of Equestrian sport for St Mary's Calne, with the Stonar Inter Schools One Day Event (ISODE) and a Championship entry at Windsor International Horse Show.

Windsor is a beautiful venue to get the chance to compete at; our team of Lily, Emily, Tilly and Beatriz qualified back in November 2018 so we had waited a long time for the Championship to come round. Sadly the NSEA made a last minute decision that each school were only allowed to jump three riders at Windsor, so sadly Lily couldn’t jump but she was there in spirit with us.

Drawn early in the draw, we were the third team to jump out of 38 teams competing. We had to give it everything, the girls all jumped immaculate clears, we went into the lead and we held this position for over two hours. It was nail biting until the end, but to finish in 4th place on this huge stage was incredible. The atmosphere was amazing and something we will all remember for a very long time. A huge thank you to all of the parents and supporters that came along on Saturday, it was a great team effort with a fantastic result to top it off.

Stonar have had their X-country course revamped and they have definitely made the course much tougher than it has been in previous years.  On Saturday, Clemmie pulled out a great performance in her 80cm section to finish in 4th place and qualify for the NSEA Eventing Championships. A huge well done to Olivia who also competed in the 80cm and to Iris and Nixie who also competed in the 70cm sections.

Sunday was a chance for the 90cm and 100cm competitors. Both courses were certainly up to height and much more challenging than they have been in previous years.... A huge well done to Maddie who finished in 2nd place in her 90cm and Millie who finished in 4th place, both qualifying for the championships in September.

Alice did a fantastic job in her first 100cm to finish in 2nd place, closely followed by Lara in 4th and Lottie in 7th. The girls also took the team 100 win to round off what had simply been a fantastic weekend of Equestrian sport. Alice and Lara have also qualified for the 100cm championships. Also, a huge well done to Tilly who jumped another double clear on Milly after a quick turn around following a very late return from Windsor. Also well done to Jemima who took part in the 90cm class.

Thank you to all of the parents and supporters who made last weekend happen and a very special thank you to John Moore for such fantastic photos!
