Over the weekend of 21st-22nd September, Stonar School hosted the NSEA Eventing Championships. Qualifiers had been held up and down the country since March, giving riders the chance to compete for one of the titles on offer.

The Cross Country courses had been designed to be true Championship tracks and at each level the course was going to be a big test.

On Saturday we were blessed with some beautiful autumn sunshine and Daisy (Year 10) set the standard for the weekend by winning the 80cm Championship. Sophie (Year 7) also finished in 5th place.

Unfortunately we weren’t quite so lucky with the weather on Sunday; conditions were a little tricky, but all of the girls coped very well.

Alice (Year 10) was crowned 100cm Eventing Champion, leading the section from start to finish with Lara (Year 10) in third. The 100cm Team of Alice, Emily, Lara and Lottie were also crowned Team Champions, with great cross country rides from all the girls.

Huge congratulations must also go to Sadie (Year 10) who won her 90cm Non-Championship section, finishing on her fantastic dressage score of 25.

Well done to all of the other girls who competed in the Championship classes: Clemmie, Maddie, Millie and Ottie. It was also great to see Olivia (Year 10) competing and Aoife (Year 12) stepping up a level in the Non-Championship section.

It was a great weekend of Equestrian Sport.

I would also like to thank all of the parents who made it possible for the girls to compete; we are now on the countdown to the School Equestrian Games Eventing Championships which take place at Broadway on Sunday, 6th October.
