Fantastic day of Netball at the County Tournament

County Netball Tournament

On 17th November the U14A, U16A and the 1st Netball Teams competed at the County Netball Tournament held at Marlborough College.

U14A Results:
The U14As had a fantastic day of netball! The girls played their hearts out and should be very proud of what they achieved. Every single player gave something to the tournament. We had moments where we didn’t move forward and ran away from the ball, making it a lot easier for the opposition to intercept the ball. Poppy did a fine job in Centre. The girls' shooting was on fire and movement in the attacking third was fluent. The defence worked hard and turned lots of balls over. I feel we were highly unlucky on some final whistles but that is tournament play for you. We were 3rd overall. A huge congratulations to the girls and thank you to all the parents for their support.

U16A Results:
The U16 Team played extremely well after very little netball training time and match play this term. They only lost two matches, finishing 3rd, which was an excellent result against the best teams in the County. This certainly shows the team's potential and as we move towards the netball term after Christmas we will be able to refine skills and develop strategies to enhance the team's match play further.

1st Results:
The team can be pleased with their performance and some very good periods of play during the Tournament. They finished in 3rd place overall, However, I know the girls will be disappointed not to have achieved that 2nd place and qualification through to the South West Tournament. The margin between winning and losing in those key matches was small and, reflecting on the scores, we certainly had opportunities in the crucial games. We should not be despondent as the team has made real progress since the start of the season. We must now focus on development and progression for the many matches ahead.
