Saturday, 18th January was a beautiful morning for the Wiltshire Schools' Athletic Association's (WSAA) Cross Country Championships, held at Sheldon School in Chippenham. A frosty, cold start but bright, sunny and little if any wind - perfect conditions for running.
St Mary's Senior Girls ran extremely well, putting in good performances over the 3,825m course. Lara finished 2nd, Susannah 3rd, Hum 5th and Fenella 7th. All of the girls have now been invited to compete for Wiltshire at the South West Championships in Bournemouth on 8th February.
St Mary's U15 athletes ran very well over the 3,825m course, particularly as they are all first-year Inter Girls. Lily finished 19th, Lara 20th and Pollyanna 23rd.
U14A/13A: St Mary's Junior Girls ran well against stiff competition. It was a fast race over a course of 3,250m. Dora finished 12th, Eva-Rose 14th, followed by Ophelia and Honor 27th in a field of 50+ runners. All four girls are to be congratulated on their performances on the day; both Dora and Honor are first year Junior Girls.
St Mary's Minor Girls put in some really excellent performances over the 2,340m course in a big field of 50+ runners from around the County. Matlida finished 7th, Poppy 9th and Baylee 14th. Matilda and Poppy have now also been invited to compete for Wiltshire at the South West Championships in Bournemouth on 8th February.
Well done to all the St Mary's girls on some excellent running.
