Over the Exeat weekend, the U14 and U15 Netball Teams made their annual trip to Shrewsbury to compete in a netball tournament at Condover Hall.

Saturday morning saw the U15s playing first. There were three U16 Teams in their section, so there was a lot to work for. They had some fabulous matches, with lots of goals. The girls played some marvelous netball and worked superbly as a team. The U15s had to play a round robin and then play the same teams again on Sunday. This sometimes can be very hard, but we managed to hold our own.

The Saturday results in a 7-minute each way match were:

V Ponteland Yr 11 6-11
V Dene Magna 2. Yr 11 25-1
V Dene Magna 1. Yr 11 12-3
V Holy Family 15-0
V Hollyfield 16-1

The afternoon brought the games for the U14s who, in the morning, had been climbing, abseiling, laser shooting and zip wiring. Again, they were on fire and really gave the opposition something to think about.

V Kings Ely 12-4
V Hollyfield 18-1
V St Margaret’s 12-0
V Bridgewater 16-0
V Rishworth 21-2

On Sunday the girls were tired with aching bodies, however, they could picture the medals, and that motivated them to work hard.

V Ponteland 13-7
V Dene Magna 2 20-0
V Dene Magna 1 16-1
V Holy Family 15-3
V Hollyfield 4. 19-4

The U15s worked so hard, although they were unable to beat the team from Newcastle. So, for the final standings, our U15 Team came 2nd in an U16 Tournament and were the highest placed U15 Team. The U14s on Sunday were in the same frame of mind. They had two matches to play to reach the finals, but I feel they had lost some of their 'vava voom' of Saturday. They stuck in and worked hard to produce the results. The girls made the finals and eventually won 10-5, to be crowned the winners!

V Rishworth 1 12-2
V Rishworth 2 8-3
Finals v St Margaret’s 10-5

Congratulations to all of the players!
