Year 7 pupil, Niamh, has been selected to race in this year's Shetland Pony Grand National in aid of The Bob Champion Cancer Trust.

Niamh will be riding Cranford Fantastic (aka Zorro) and their goal is to compete at The London International Horse Show in December. This year it will be held at ExCel from 16th-20th December.

To ride at The London International Horse Show in December Niamh is required to raise at least £1,000 for the charity, but she is hoping to hit a total of £3,000 before then. Her first fundraising outing took place on Bank Holiday Monday when she completed a ridden sponsored 'walk' with Bob Champion at Nicky Henderson’s yard.

Former Grand National winner Bob Champion rode to victory in 1981, after battling with cancer the year before.

In order to qualify to ride at The London International Horse Show in December, Niamh will then have to win one of the qualifying races. Her speedy Shetland pony, Zorro, owned by Mandy Shepherd, has numerous wins under his belt, so the bets are on!

We wish Niamh the best of luck! If you would like to support Bob Champion’s charity please go to https://www.justgiving.com/Niamh-Reid-SPGN
