At the age of 11, I was a late starter to the game, however I went on to play full-time tennis throughout my teenage years. I fell in love with the game and my favourite player to watch was Fernando Verdasco. At the age of 18, I was ranked number 1 in Dorset and represented my county in the County Cup. From 16-20 years of age I toured around the country playing Futures and British Tours, having the highest National Ranking inside the top 100 for the U18s. My biggest achievement was reaching the Quarter-finals of a British Tour Grade 1 event and having the privilege to be the hitting partner of the U16 Boys’ Number 1 National Champion for a year.
My coaching career began at the age of 16, assisting at my local tennis club. Since then, I have attained my Level 3 coaching qualification with the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) and coached at various clubs and schools, working with County and National players. I have had the opportunity to work with some great coaches from various parts of the world, which has helped me develop as a coach. My ambition is to continue my coaching qualifications with the LTA and to achieve my Level 4 within three years.
I am already enjoying the challenge of increasing female participation in tennis at SMCTA and I look forward to meeting more of our pupils out on the tennis court in the near future. .
