Girls succeed in round one of ESU Debating Competition!

Last Wednesday 23rd November, the Debating Society went to Stonar School to compete in round one of the English-Speaking Union (ESU) Mace Debating competition.

With LVI and LV supporting, Anna and Jemima in LVI had the challenge of opposing the motion provided by the English-Speaking Union that: This house supports salary caps in professional sports.

Up against Beechen Cliff School, the girls did exceptionally well in delivering their speech and also in how well they engaged in debating with the other team. The opportunity to watch and ask questions of another debate was a chance that all the group relished and they came away from the evening buoyed by success and filled with enthusiasm for the next round which will take place in January.
