The UVI members of the St Mary’s Calne Wine Society gathered last week for a festive celebration to mark the end of term and the impending Christmas break.
The girls have been learning the basics of wine appreciation this term, having attended tastings based around regions, grape varieties, new and old World wines and food pairings. All of the weekly meetings involve a mini feast and sampling of a selection of wines but this celebration was made all the more special by the inclusion of the girls’ favourite wines from their homes, and a traditional Christmas turkey supper of course. There were Christmas songs and tacky jumpers aplenty, making the evening a fine way to wind down to the end of term.
Should any other UVI girls be interested in joining the Wine Society they should speak to Mr Curran to get more details of what’s on offer.
