During the first week of the Easter holidays, 30 girls travelled to Palma with Mrs Baldwin and Mrs Thompson to take part in the pre-season tennis training at Vilas Tennis Academy in Palma Nova. We had lessons every morning, followed by a break and then further lessons from 3.30-5.30pm. The girls worked extremely hard in very hot conditions. The sun was out in full force and Mrs Thompson and Mrs Baldwin were run off their feet with applying sun cream and compeed plasters!

The girls were split up into small groups and trained with a different coach each hour. A couple of groups were lucky enough to work with Sergio, who is the Russian Olympic and Davis Cup Coach. It was amazing to watch him coaching and playing. We were also lucky enough to train with two young European Champions who had just won their titles the week before. There were a lot of fluttering hearts with Daniel!

After morning training and lunch at the tennis academy, we had time to go to the ice cream shop, the bazaar or to have a sneaky cool down at the hotel pool or just a rest on the sun loungers. We then headed back to the Academy for our afternoon session. Once our lessons were finished we had the infamous "Milka Cup". This was heavily fought each day playing with a partner, Polly and Nancy where our first winners of the week and were extremely excited to win the worlds biggest Milka Oreo bar. Other winners during the week were Amelia and Harriet; Laura, Hannah and Livvie and Davina and Annabel won it twice!

In the evenings we enjoyed supper at the tennis centre and a walk on the beach and bed time soon came around. A huge thank you to Georgie for helping me with the water and strawberry run every morning, building up upper body strength. On the last day, we took the local bus into Palma for a cultural and shopping extravaganza before catching the coach to the airport. Over the week it was phenomenal to see how every girl's tennis technique had improved and the power and accuracy of each shot and we are all very excited about the oncoming tennis season.  Mrs Natalie Baldwin
