On 24th May, our Gold Duke of Edinburgh students attended the Gold Award presentations at Buckingham Palace, hosted by the Patron, the Duke of Edinburgh.

"We had a really great day - we saw lots of celebrities as they came out of the Palace from their reception, including Olympic Gold Medallists Greg Rutherford and Chris Mears, TV stars Helen George, Ross Kemp, Monica Galetti (Masterchef) and Chris Hollins. Each group of students were allotted a celebrity and we were lucky to get Carol Kirkwood from BBC Weather. She gave us a really insightful talk on what she does and how they predict the weather, not to mention waking up at 2.45am each morning. Then Prince Philip, the Earl of Wessex and the Countess of Wessex arrived, accompanied by the National Anthem! We were really lucky that our group was visited by the Duke of Edinburgh himself as this was his last Presentation. He asked us questions about doing the Award and some of us chatted to him which was a great honour! We had the chance to walk through the grounds and there were bands playing."
