Spanish students make Churros con Chocolate

Last week Mrs Hodge’s UIV and LV Spanish group spent a very interesting hour in the kitchens preparing Churros con Chocolate, a very popular and highly calorific type of Spanish doughnut served with thick, melted chocolate, often eaten for breakfast or after a long night out partying!

First, they had to match up the ingredients on the table with their Spanish names, then in groups of three they followed the recipe in Spanish that we had watched previously on a You Tube Spanish cooking website. It all looked very simple and straightforward during the demonstration, but getting the mixture to the right consistency for squeezing it through the piping bags to form the churros proved easier said than done! Not to be defeated, the girls used their ingenuity to fashion and then fry their creations, and anything lost in presentation was more than made up for by the taste! DO try these at home…
