New Sports Complex takes shape

Building has begun on our new Sports Complex! Spades went into the ground as soon as we broke up in early July and the site has been a hive of activity with diggers, cranes and deliveries. From bare earth you can now see the foundations, outline steel structure and the size and scale of the project!

Our Sports Team, whose office is next door to the site, are literally living and breathing the work. From their windows they can see the new building emerging and are dreaming of all that they will be using it for!

Director of Sport, Mrs Heidi Marvin, commented: “We are thrilled to see the new Sports Complex going up so fast.  The complex will provide an exceptional facility for St Mary’s, St Margaret’s and the local community and will enable us to expand on our excellent sports provision.  The new Sports Complex will include a large sports hall (provision for four badminton courts; netball; tennis; hockey; lacrosse; volleyball; basketball; football; gymnastics and cricket nets); a new dance studio, multi-purpose room for fitness classes, new changing facilities and a viewing gallery. This will not only provide our visiting teams with changing facilities but, more importantly, will provide the opportunity for our girls to play indoor team sports, as well as enable our school teams to train throughout the winter in adverse weather."

As you can see, they are literally ‘jumping for joy’ with the incredibly fast progress and all the new opportunities it will provide!

It is through the very generous support of many parents (past and present), alumnae and friends of St Mary’s and St Margaret’s that we have raised over 90% of the funds needed. The Stepping Stones Appeal is the final focus for our fundraising and these stones will line the pathway to the entrance to the new building. This is a fantastic chance to celebrate your connection with the school and the enjoyment of sport or just to show support for the new Sports Complex. If you would like to sponsor one of the limited number of stones remaining please provide details of your chosen inscription at
