Debating Society competes in Mace competition The St Mary’s Debating Society were busy last Wednesday, 29th November, taking part in the English Speaking Union’s Mace debating competition. The round was held in Stonar School and we were one of six schools participating in this round. Our team of Helena and Farida in the UVI were opposing the motion that ‘This house would introduce E-Sports into the Olympic Games’. The other schools were debating the notion of paying Politicians the median wage for their country and reintroducing national service. A number of St Mary’s girls from LV to UVI came along to support our team, as well as watching the other debates. Whilst we didn’t go through to the next round, the girls all enjoyed this very valuable experience which they will share with the rest of the Debating Society.
