Girls release endangered Eels into river

After taking care of 50 European eels (elvers) for the past month, the Year 7 girls had the opportunity to take part in the release event into the river Marden.

This was a chance for them to ask questions, handle and release them. They learnt some astonishing facts, such as the illegal trade of glass eels is worth more than the ivory trade!  We would like to thank the Bristol Avon Rivers Trust for running the 'Eel in the Classroom' project to help raise awareness and aid the conservation of the critically endangered European eel.
