On Thursday 10th May, six members of St Mary’s Young Enterprise company, ‘The Hungry Tin', represented the school at the Wiltshire County Final.

Year 12 girls, Ana, Arabella, Eliza, Georgina, Hannah and Vicky set up an attractive trade stand, confidently answered questions from a wide range of judges and gave an engaging presentation telling the story of their company so far. As a social enterprise, they have created an attractive range of gift tins containing recipe cards, snacks, trinkets and jewellery from countries where there is a need to fight hunger. In doing so, they have sought to raise money and awareness to 'fight hunger, tin by tin'.

The judges were particularly impressed by their enthusiasm, passion and professionalism. The girls received lots of positive feedback about the quality of their marketing, the strength of their brand and the huge contribution they have made to support their chosen charities.

The girls were sparky and enthusiastic when answering the judges’ questions and showed great professionalism during their engaging presentation. They won the awards for Social Responsibility and Best Company Report. Praise must also go to Eliza who won an award for her ‘Outstanding Individual’ contribution as Creative Director of the team.

We would like to congratulate the girls on their achievements and praise them for their efforts throughout the year. It has been an exciting journey and they have developed a whole host of skills that will be invaluable in their careers.
