2018 Summer Term

Fifteen of our LVI (Year 12) students spent the May Bank Holiday weekend navigating around the Brecon Beacons on their Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Award Practice Expedition. They had been responsible for planning their routes, menu and packing in preparation for their Final Expedition at the end of term.

Beginning of Term Arrangements

Each year group has its own specific arrangements for the start of the new school year. Please see below for the time you should bring your daughter back to school.

Detailed arrangements will be circulated and posted on the Parent Portal in due course.

The Fifth and Sixth Form students were lucky to be able to see this reinterpretation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream by Lyric Hammersmith & Filter Theatre production company at the Oxford Playhouse, in advance of our senior production this autumn. 

On Thursday 17th May, some of the girls travelled to London for a very special occasion - the Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Award ceremony at Buckingham Palace.

What a wedding! It was the most eagerly anticipated romantic and social event of the year at St Mary’s Calne, and it did not disappoint. Of course I’m not writing about that other minor event that took place at Windsor on Saturday. No. I write about the mock wedding that the entire Year 10 enjoyed during their period 1 Religious Studies GCSE lesson on Saturday, 19th May. 

The soon departing Year 13 girls were treated to a farewell afternoon tea by their Geography teachers this term. 

On the evening of 15th May, some of our girls set off to see Hamlet at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre in London. 

Friday 11th May marked the final day for the Year 7 and Year 8 girls to enjoy watersports at the Cotswold Water Park, as part of their 'Challenge and Adventure' course.

On Thursday 10th May, six members of St Mary’s Young Enterprise company, ‘The Hungry Tin', represented the school at the Wiltshire County Final.

After taking care of 50 European eels (elvers) for the past month, the Year 7 girls had the opportunity to take part in the release event into the river Marden.

On 8th May, girls in the LVI (Year 12) who are considering applying to Oxbridge, took part in an evening which sought to expand and challenge their thinking.

On 3rd May, the Year 7 and Year 8 girls set off on their much anticipated two-day 'Camp and Walk'.
