Enriching RS Trip for Year 7 girls

RS TripOn 12th February, as part of the Donaldson Programme, Year 7 were taken by the Religious Studies Department to visit two places of worship that link to their lessons.

Girls apply Sports Psychology knowledge to 'escape'

Escape RoomOn the evening of 12th February, the Year 12 A Level PE students set off on an exciting team-building trip to the 11th Hour Escape Room in Bromham. This provided the girls with an excellent opportunity to apply some of their new Sports Psychology knowledge to a real life scenario, as well as getting to know each other even more, in a time pressured environment.

English trip to the 'Dreaming Spires'

Oxford Trip 2019During Donaldson Week, on Tuesday 12th February, the Year 8 and Year 9 girls enjoyed a trip to Oxford, organised by the English Department.

Language Leaders teach primary school children

Language LeadersOn Monday 11th February, our Year 8 Language Leaders welcomed some students from Priestley Primary School. They taught French and Spanish to the Year 6 pupils, helped them to create an e-video about Barbapapa and organised a French and Spanish Quiz.

Pupil wins Book Trust's cover design competition

BookBuzz Cover Each year here at St Mary’s, the Year 7 and Year 8 girls are given the opportunity to choose a free book from a selection offered by Bookbuzz, a reading programme for ages 11-13 run by Book Trust, with the aim of promoting reading for pleasure in schools. As part of the Bookbuzz programme, there is a competition for the pupils to re-design the cover of their chosen Bookbuzz book.

Donaldson Week DofEOn Monday 11th February the whole of Year 9 were introduced to outdoor first aid, safety, navigation and team building skills by Wildcountry Consultant staff who supervise the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh expeditions in Year 10.

Lecturer in Constructive Theologies gives engaging talk

Dr Susannah CornwallOn Tuesday 5th February, St Mary’s was delighted to welcome Dr Susannah Cornwall, Senior Lecturer in Constructive Theologies at the University of Exeter. Her lecture on 'What is Queer Theology?' gave us an insight into issues facing the LGBTQ+ Christian community, and the ways that people have sought to overcome such issues.

Girls launch Physics Society

Physics SocietyThe week of 4th February saw the inaugural meeting of the Physics Society. Year 12 girls Elisabeth, Cali and Georgia have organised a weekly Physics club, open to all year groups, to discuss and show some of the more intriguing areas of Physics.

Dinner, dancing and fun for the Osmund Company girls

Osmund Company SupperOn Wednesday 30th January, the girls from Osmund Company came together for their annual Company Supper. The dress theme was to come as what you want to be when you grow up.
