Taggie (LIV, Year 7) has won a Bronze Award for her excellent entry into the Royal Commonwealth Society’s Essay Competition 2021. Submitted during her final year at St Michael’s, she has recently received the news and she has kindly shared her essay with St Mary’s English Department. The topic of the competition was very on-trend: The year is 2050 and you’ve been asked to write about the coronavirus pandemic for a museum. What story would you tell?
Mrs Lord, Head of English, explains that 'this was a highly accomplished response. In her piece, Taggie personified Covid which, when juxtaposed with the calendar dates, felt all too real. Congratulations to Taggie on this incredibly powerful work.' Her thought-provoking essay can be read here.
Taggie was presented with a printed version of her award certificate during Chapel on 8th November - congratulations Taggie on this excellent achievement!
