St Mary's hosted 100 Year 5 and 6 pupils from four local primary schools on Monday 13th June for a day of lacrosse. For most of the pupils, it was their first experience of lacrosse, with some having had one lesson in the build up to the day. There was lots of excitement as the morning started with a rotation of skills all led by UV and LVI lacrosse players running coaching sessions. After a short break, the second session started, this was an opportunity for the pupils to get some tactics and practise some game play in readiness for the games after lunch.

The afternoon saw some excellent game play from all pupils as they were split into 10 teams, playing in fun friendly games on mini-lacrosse pitches. The level of skill shown was great and this is a massive compliment to the UV and LVI students on their coaching and officiating.

The day proved to be a fantastic success with lots of happy faces and an eagerness for more lacrosse opportunities. We hope to host another lacrosse day next year and will look to invite additional schools in order to give more pupils the opportunity to play lacrosse.
