ukrain tnOn Thursday 24th February, the lives of millions of Ukrainians were torn apart when their country was invaded. Flora (LIV - Year 7) describes the latest fundraising efforts of the LIV Form:

'I listened and watched the news every minute I could as we were all so upset by the events unfolding, as were so many others around the world. I just couldn’t understand why we couldn’t help more and it was so sad to think of the millions of children who had to leave their homes to seek safety.

Talking to my family and then my school friends, we thought it would be a good idea to try and help in our own way, so we set ourselves a sponsored challenge to raise money for charity. We looked at the news stories of people fleeing the war and were amazed to find out about a group of Ukrainians who walked 43 miles from Lviv to the Polish border in the freezing cold in just 20 hours. We decided that our challenge would be to each walk, run, cycle or swim the distance of 43 miles over the Easter holidays and raise sponsorship money for UNICEF's Ukraine Appeal. By the end of the Easter holidays, nearly everyone had completed the challenge and we have raised over £4,200 to date.

Our target is £5,000 and we would really love to reach it. We would really appreciate your help, so please click on our Just Giving link to donate to this very important cause. Every penny will help the 7.5 million displaced and orphaned children of Ukraine who so desperately need it.

Thank you very much!'
