On Tuesday 3rd May, five members of St Mary’s Young Enterprise company, ‘Empower', represented the school at the Wiltshire County Final, held at Cumberwell Park near Bradford on Avon.

Twenty-two girls in LVI (Year 12) have taken part in the Young Enterprise Company Programme this year. Led by Bonnie, Empower have created a range of sustainable, fair trade coffee bags and gift cards with inspirational quotes that promote female empowerment.

Alyna, Daisy, Leah, Lily and Sophie represented the company at the County Final. They set up an attractive trade stand, confidently answered questions from a wide range of judges and gave an engaging presentation telling the story of their company so far.

The judges were particularly impressed by their enthusiasm, passion and professionalism. The girls received lots of positive feedback about their commitment to female empowerment, the strength of their brand and the manner in which they conducted themselves.

The girls were sparky and enthusiastic when answering the judges’ questions and captivated the audience with their innovative presentation that wove the narrative of the company into an entertaining coffee shop scene. They won awards for Teamwork, Finance, Company Report and Social Responsibility, as well as the overall trophy for the Best Company in Wiltshire.

We would like to congratulate the girls on their achievements and praise them for their efforts throughout the year. It has been an exciting journey and they have developed a whole host of skills that will be invaluable in their careers. By virtue of winning this round, they are now looking forward to representing St Mary’s at the South West Regional Final to be held online on Thursday 19th May.
