The History Department's very own Mr Morris, an avid writer and accomplished artist, came to speak to the Writer's Guild about the process of writing believable characters.
They were treated to his chilling short story, The Slender Key. The group then discussed the importance of writing authentic dialogue, learning that most conversations are interlacing fragments rather than overly structured and in equal parts.
Mr Morris also reiterated the importance of writing ideas and phrases down as soon as you have them, either on paper or a Word document. It is key to simply get something down 'on paper' and not fall prey to the paralysing force of perfectionism.
On that note, Daunt Books Short Story Competition closes on January 31st and is for those between 4-15 years old. Please let Mrs Lord know if you have a story you would like to enter. https://dauntbooks.co.uk/short-story-competition/
